GMT967 Launch

Are you having fun with this launch too? Is this a nightmare launch? Has GM brought up designs that they learned not to use 10 years ago and are trying to use them again on your product too?

Go Build a Car

Any body every have trouble with a customer? Are you having trouble with one now? Here is your place to share your problems, because the chances are is that you are not alone.

The problem is that all automotive suppliers have very similar customers, if not the same. What the OEM's use against the suppliers is the lack of sharing of information. They will rarely tell a supplier, when another supplier is having a problem on a similar component or when they are. Please join me in this sharing exchange. Please send your issues to ppap_piet@yahoo.com. Together we can all succeed.

What is Going On?

Have you ever sat at your desk wondering what on earth is going on at the OEM assembly plant? Thinking what on earth are they doing with all of these parts that they are requesting. At the same time you are struggling with internal quality issues struggling to make the standard build requirements, yet the OEM is requesting 150% of the build.

Would love to develop a place to share what is going on with the customers. Are they struggling making cars and scrapping out a lot of parts? Did they have something happen to shut them down. These are all things that anyone in automotive parts manufacturing needs to know. I know some people know, but have no other place to share this kind of information. Well here is a shot at developing a place like that.

Oh How I Love/Hate Powerway

I have been fortunate that I have not had to use Powerway on a regular basis for years, although, my fellow colleagues have not been so lucky. I first dealt with Powerway back in 1998 as a consultant getting a plant certified to QS-9000. They had bought the Powerway software package to get their QS-9000 done, what a mess. It was a cumbersome software package back then and it is even worse today for the APQP that the OEM’s require the tier ones to use.

The problem with Powerway is they try to do everything with it and doing so makes it cumbersome. Powerway is very time consuming to just simple tasks. The tasks become even more cumbersome when you have a lot of little simple tasks that are repeated.

So here is a blog to relate our horror stories and daily fun we have with Powerway. Please send your comments and I will add them to the blog. You can also e-mail your comments to ppap_piet@yahoo.com Enjoy!!!
